EarthSpark was founded by Dan Schnitzer and Justin Dargin in 2008, shortly after they met at an international student conference on natural resources and development. While at the conference, they discovered that they had many unique ideas in common, specifically on using energy as a catalyst for poverty alleviation. From their long discussions, they decided to found EarthSpark to combine the power of their ideas with their complementary areas of expertise. Justin has moved on to pursue new opportunities, but Dan continues to volunteer his time to EarthSpark.
